Your own confirmation page

Send customers to a page you design once they have booked, with the booking drawn on it, and point your adverts’ conversions at it.

Out of the box, a customer finishes where they started: the booking form shows Your booking is confirmed in place, with the reference and the details underneath. That is right for a form in a sidebar, and wrong for anyone who wants a thank-you page of their own — your words, directions to the branch, what to bring — or who needs one address an advert can count a booking on. The After they book card on Settings › Booking rules sends customers to a page on your site instead, and a shortcode draws their booking on it.

Why send people to a page

  • You design it. It is an ordinary WordPress page: headings, pictures, a map, a “what happens next” list. The booking card goes wherever you put the shortcode, and it takes your booking form’s brand colour.
  • Your adverts can point at it. The page carries the booking reference in its address, so conversion tracking fires there with nothing else to set up.
  • It is yours to word. Change the heading and the message, show only the details you want, or write the whole page by hand and drop single details — the customer’s first name, the date, the reference — into your own sentences.

Set it up

  1. Make the pageIn WordPress, add a page called Thank you (or anything you like), put [get_booked_confirmation] in a Shortcode block with your own words above and below it, and publish.
  2. Open Booking rulesBooked › Settings › Booking rules. The After they book card sits between Taking a booking and Deposits.
  3. Choose Go to a page of your ownPick your page under The page. The list holds every published page on the site; Another address on this site… lets you type an address instead.
  4. Preview the pageOpens the page in a new tab with a made-up booking drawn on it, so you can check the layout before anyone books.
  5. SavePress Save. From the next booking on, customers are sent to the page.

After they book

Where a customer lands once the booking, and any payment, is done.

Stay on the booking pageThe confirmation shows in the form itself, where they booked.
Go to a page of your ownA thank-you page you design, with the booking drawn on it by a shortcode — and the address an advert’s conversion can point at.
The page
Thank you▾
[get_booked_confirmation]CopyPreview the page

Put the shortcode on that page and it draws the booking: the reference, what, when, where, who with, the price, the video link and anything still to do. Your own words can go above and below it, or around single details such as [get_booked_confirmation field="first_name"]. With “Fire a conversion when a booking completes” on under Tracking & pixels, the conversion fires on this page.

How to build your confirmation page →

The After they book card on Booking rules, set to a page called Thank you.

  • 1Go to a page of your own — the switch. Stay on the booking page is the default and keeps the confirmation inside the form, exactly as before.
  • 2The page — every published page on the site, by title. Another address on this site… adds an Address box. It has to be on this site: an address on another website is dropped when you save, and bookings carry on finishing in the form.
  • 3The shortcode — Copy puts [get_booked_confirmation] on your clipboard, ready for the page.
  • 4Preview the page — opens the page in a new tab with a sample booking drawn on it. Only your team sees the sample; a customer opening the same address sees the page with no booking on it.

What the customer sees

Nothing changes until the booking is made. When there is nothing to pay, the form says Taking you to your confirmation… and goes straight to your page. When a deposit or the full price is due, the card step comes first and the customer is sent on the moment the payment goes through. If your payments happen on a payment page away from your site, the customer comes back to the booking page for a moment while Booked confirms the payment, then goes on to yours. A declined card keeps them on the card step to try again; if a payment cannot be confirmed, the form shows the booking in place instead, so nobody is left stranded.

The page opens with the booking in its address — the reference plus a signed key — and the shortcode reads both and draws the card.

Meridian Pharmacy’s thank-you page, with the booking drawn by the shortcode and a question form still to answer.

  • 1Your own words — everything else on the page is yours. Single details, such as the first name here, can be pulled in with field shortcodes (see below).
  • 2The heading — Your booking is confirmed, or Your booking is requested when the booking is waiting for your approval, each with its own line underneath. Both can be replaced.
  • 3The card — Reference, Service, With, Where, When (the date, then start to end time) and Price, with Paid and To pay at your appointment when money has been taken online or is still owed. Group bookings add Booked for, courses add Your visits, and a video appointment says Online — video call under Where.
  • 4Anything still to do — Join video call for a video appointment; Answer a few questions when the service asks its questions after booking; Recommended extras, with Add recommended extras, when the service has WooCommerce extras; and, with customer accounts on, a link to see, move or cancel the appointment in their account.

It is the same card the booking form shows on its own last step, drawn with the same styles, so it picks up your booking form’s brand colour and matches what customers have just seen in the form.

Make the card your own

Five attributes on the shortcode change what it draws. In a title or message, {first_name} becomes the customer’s first name.

AttributeWhat it doesExample
titleReplaces Your booking is confirmed (or Your booking is requested).title="See you soon, {first_name}"
messageReplaces the line under the heading.message="Bring your passport."
showDraws only the parts you list, separated by commas: reference, service, staff, where, when, people, price, visits, video, questions, extras, account. Leave it out for everything. price covers Paid and To pay as well.show="reference, when, where"
fallbackWhat somebody sees when they open the page without a booking. Without it, the shortcode shows nothing at all.fallback="Check your email."
classAn extra CSS class on the card, for your own styling.class="meridian-thanks"
Shortcode
// The whole card, with your own heading and only the parts you want.
[get_booked_confirmation title="See you soon, {first_name}" show="reference, when, where, price" fallback="Looking for your booking? The details are in the email we sent you."]

Write the page by hand

If you would rather write the whole page yourself, pull in one detail at a time with field="…". Each one prints plain text (the three links print as links), and default="…" is what appears when that detail is empty or there is no booking in the address. Say your page reads:

Shortcode
Thanks [get_booked_confirmation field="first_name" default="so much"] — we have your booking
for [get_booked_confirmation field="date"] at [get_booked_confirmation field="time"]
with [get_booked_confirmation field="staff"]. Your reference is [get_booked_confirmation field="reference"].

For Grace Whitfield’s travel consultation it comes out as “Thanks Grace — we have your booking for Monday 5 October 2026 at 10:30 with Priya Sharma. Your reference is GB-00042.” Somebody who lands on the page without a booking reads “Thanks so much — we have your booking for at with . Your reference is .” — so give each field a default, or keep the fields in a sentence that still reads well when they are blank.

A hand-written thank-you page in the WordPress editor: single details in a sentence, then a trimmed card.

  • 1Single details in your own sentence — each field shortcode prints one value. default="so much" covers a visitor who arrives with no booking.
  • 2The card, trimmed — show= keeps only the parts you name and title= swaps the heading. The tick, heading and message always draw.
FieldPrints
first_name, name, emailThe customer’s first name, full name and email address.
referenceThe booking reference, such as GB-00042.
service, staffThe service; the team member.
where, addressThe branch, or Online — video call for a video appointment; the branch’s address (blank for video).
date, time, end_time, durationMonday 5 October 2026; 10:30; 10:50; 20 minutes. Times follow the clock chosen under Settings › Region & currency.
price, paid, dueThe price; what was paid online; what is still to pay at the appointment. The last two are blank when there is nothing to show.
people, visitsThe names on a group booking; a course’s visits as one line.
video_link, questions_link, manage_linkLinks to join the video call, answer outstanding questions and open their account — each blank when it does not apply.

A few other spellings work too: firstname, customer, when (the date), location and branch (the branch), join_url, intake and account.

Adverts and tracking

The page’s address carries the reference as gb_booking — the same thing Booked’s conversion tracking already looks for. With Fire a conversion when a booking completes switched on under Settings › Tracking & pixels, every pixel you have added fires on this page with nothing else to set up, so give the ad platform the page’s address as its thank-you page. The value and the reference are read from the booking itself, not from the page, and a booking is only ever counted once: a refreshed page, a reopened link or a second tab fires nothing more. The form stops counting the booking in place once a page is chosen, so there is no double-counting either way. The event names and the figures sent are in Conversion tracking events.

Payments, questions and extras

  • Deposits and full payment. The card step stays in the form; the page comes after it. Nobody is sent on until the money is in, and the card shows what was paid and what is left for the day.
  • Questions asked after booking. A service whose questions are placed After they have booked normally asks them on the form’s own confirmation screen. On your page they become an Answer a few questions button that opens the secure form; the same link is in the customer’s email. See Ask your own questions.
  • Recommended extras. Where a service has WooCommerce extras, the form offers them in a pop-up after booking. The page lists them with their prices instead, and Add recommended extras puts them all in the basket and opens the checkout. See Same-visit add-ons and product upsells.
  • No “Make another booking”. The form’s confirmation has that button; your page does not, because the page is yours — add a link back to your booking page if you want one.

A different page for one form

A form can name its own page, overriding the setting for that embed only: [get_booked confirmation="/thank-you-travel/"]. A path like that, or a full address on this site, both work; an address on another website is ignored. It works on every way the form is embedded: [get_booked] including a saved form design ([get_booked variant="v_…"]), [get_booked_short], [get_booked_compact] and the pop-up [get_booked_button]. It works even when the site-wide choice is Stay on the booking page, so one landing page can have a confirmation page without changing the rest of the site. The shortcodes themselves are in Put the booking form on your website.

Things to know

  • A link works for 7 days. Counted from when the booking was made. After that the page says “This confirmation link has expired. The details are in the email we sent you.”
  • Cancelled and past bookings. Open the link to a booking that has since been cancelled and the page says “This booking has been cancelled.” Once the appointment time has passed, or the booking is marked a no-show, it says “This appointment has already taken place.”
  • Nobody can read someone else’s. The key in the address is signed for that one booking, so a guessed or edited reference shows nothing — or your fallback text.
  • Preview is for your team. Preview the page adds ?gb_preview=1 to the address. Signed in with access to bookings, you see Grace Whitfield’s made-up appointment under a Preview with made-up details ribbon; anyone else sees the page with no booking on it. The sample has no video link, questions, extras or account link, so those parts stay blank in a preview.
  • Hand-written pages say nothing when a link has expired, or the booking is cancelled or past. Field shortcodes just print their defaults. Keep the full [get_booked_confirmation] on the page as well if you want the customer told why.
  • Choose a page without the shortcode and customers see no details. They still have the email, and tracking still fires, but the page should carry the shortcode or your own fields.
  • Switching it off. Choose Stay on the booking page and save. Links already sent keep working on the page for their 7 days.

For developers

A custom form built on the public API gets the destination back from the server: the responses to POST /public/bookings and POST /public/confirm-payment both carry confirmation_url — the page with the reference and key already on it, or empty when the site finishes in place. Send a confirmation parameter with either request to name a page for that form (it has to be on this site). Send the customer there once nothing is left to pay, and do not claim the conversion yourself as well: it fires on the page. The card is wrapped in .gb-conf and uses the form’s own classes (.gb-book, .gb-book-done, .gb-done-card), with .gb-conf-row and .gb-conf-label on each line; an empty-page fallback is wrapped in .gb-conf--empty. The page loads the booking form’s stylesheet, not its script. See Build a custom booking form, step by step.
