AI credits and your monthly allowance
Each AI action costs credits. Here is what everything costs, what the plan includes, and how to top up.
Everything clever in Booked — Sidekick, the AI note-taker, the form builder, the growth advisor — costs us money to run, and the amount varies enormously by what you ask for. So rather than a vague limit that stops you mid-sentence, each action has a price in credits. Every plan includes an allowance each month, and you can top up if you want more.
They renew on the 1st and do not roll over. Credits you have bought are separate: they roll over and never expire, and they are only touched once the month’s allowance is gone.
Where to look
Settings › AI credits shows what you have left, how much of the month’s allowance you have used, and what everything costs. It is also where you top up.
What each thing costs
| What you do | Credits | That is about |
|---|---|---|
| Ask Sidekick something | 3 | 100 questions a month |
| Sidekick making a change for you | 5 | 60 changes a month |
| Matching up columns on an import | 5 | 60 imports |
| Drafting routing questions | 8 | 37 sets |
| Drafting eligibility questions | 8 | 37 sets |
| Reading your numbers (growth advisor) | 10 | 30 reports |
| Writing up chargeback evidence | 10 | 30 disputes |
| Restyling your booking form | 15 | 20 restyles |
| Guided setup | 20 | 15 runs |
| AI notes for a video consultation | 25 | 12 consultations |
| Building a whole custom form | 120 | 2 forms |
The right-hand column is what the monthly allowance buys if you spent all of it on that one thing. In practice you will mix them.
Credits are taken before the work starts, so nothing runs that you cannot pay for — and if it fails, they go straight back. A custom form that could not be built does not cost you the 120.
It is one pot per website
Not per person. If your dispensary manager runs the growth advisor on Monday morning, that is ten credits gone for everybody. On a busy site it is worth knowing who is using what — the credits screen shows the month’s total, and Sidekick will tell you what it has done if you ask it.
Topping up
| Pack | Price | Per 100 credits |
|---|---|---|
| 500 credits | £5 | £1.00 |
| 1,500 credits | £12 | £0.80 |
| 5,000 credits | £35 | £0.70 |
Charged to the card already on your subscription, so there is no checkout to go through — the credits are there immediately. Bought credits roll over month to month and never expire.
Topping up automatically
If you would rather not think about it, turn on automatic top-ups: choose a balance to trigger at and a pack to buy, and it happens on its own when you drop below the line.
Two things stop that becoming a nuisance. It buys at most once an hour, however fast you are spending. And if the card is declined it switches itself off and tells you, rather than trying the same card over and over.
When you run out
The action is refused and you are told what it costs, what you have, and when the allowance comes back — with a link to top up. Nothing else in Booked is affected: bookings, payments, reminders and your calendar carry on exactly as normal. It is only the AI features that pause.
The call itself is not an AI feature and costs nothing per minute. It is only the note-taker that spends credits. Run out mid-clinic and you can still see your patients — you just write the notes yourself that afternoon.
Need a different allowance?
Ask us. A busy multi-site pharmacy has a very different appetite to a single salon, and we would rather set your monthly allowance to something sensible than have you topping up every fortnight.
