Find your way around
Where Booked lives in WordPress, what every screen is for, and the order to set things up in.
Everything in Booked lives under one menu item in your WordPress sidebar. Inside it, Booked has its own menu with three kinds of screen: the ones you use every day, the things you set up once, and settings.
Where Booked lives in WordPress
After activating, a Booked item appears in the WordPress admin menu on the left. Everything below happens inside it — you never need to leave this one screen.
Booked
The whole app opens here, inside WordPress.
The Booked item in the WordPress menu (1).
The Booked menu
Inside Booked there is a second menu. The top group is your day-to-day work. Business and Customisation are collapsible groups holding the things you set up once and rarely change.
Every appointment — click one to view or edit it.
| When | Customer | Service | Status | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 27 Aug 09:25 | Oliver Ball | Travel health consultation | Pending | £25.00 |
| 22 Aug 10:04 | Emily Carter | Online pharmacist consultation | Confirmed | £25.00 |
The Booked menu: everyday screens (1), Business (2), Customisation (3) and Settings (4).
- 1Manage — the screens you live in. Dashboard (today at a glance), Calendar (your schedule by day, week or month), Bookings (every appointment as a list), Customers (everyone who books with you) and Analytics (how the business is doing).
- 2Business — what you sell and who delivers it: Services, Categories, Locations and Employees. Set these up once, then adjust as you grow.
- 3Customisation — how it looks and what customers receive: Notifications (emails and texts) and Booking Form (the form itself, its colours and its shortcode).
- 4Settings — everything else, in tabs: company details, localisation, booking rules, payments, calendar, add-ons and your licence.
What each screen is for
| Screen | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | See today at a glance and finish setting up. Anything outstanding is listed here. |
| Calendar | Look at your schedule by day, week or month, and add or quick-edit an appointment. |
| Bookings | Search every appointment, filter by status, and open one to change, refund or cancel it. |
| Customers | Find a customer, see everything they have booked, and keep notes and documents on file. |
| Analytics | See bookings, revenue, repeat rate and where customers came from, over any date range. |
| Business › Services | Define what people can book — duration, price, deposit and who can deliver it. |
| Business › Categories | Group services so the booking form is easier to scan. |
| Business › Locations | Add each branch, its address and its opening hours. |
| Business › Employees | Add staff, their working hours, holidays, and which services they perform. |
| Customisation › Notifications | Edit the emails and texts customers receive, and when reminders go out. |
| Customisation › Booking Form | Build booking forms, style them, and copy the shortcode to put one on a page. |
| Settings | Company details, booking rules, payments, calendar sync, add-ons and your licence. |
Finding things quickly
- Most list screens have a search box and filter chips along the top — Bookings, for example, filters by status.
- The Business and Customisation groups stay open once you use them, so you land back where you left off.
- Booked remembers the last screen you were on, so a refresh returns you there rather than the Dashboard.
Locations first, then Employees, then Services — each one builds on the last. A service can only be booked at a location that is open, by a member of staff who works there and performs it.
